01Scope and provider
These terms are between you and Shenzhen Caractiv Tech Company Limited (深圳市焦糖互动科技有限公司, “we”, “us” or “our”). They apply to the jottable app, its download website and related services we actually provide. Features can differ by channel, region and version. A feature description does not mean an unreleased service is already available.
If you do not agree to the applicable terms, stop using the relevant service. Visiting the website or accepting these terms does not replace any separate, explicit consent required by law. Your statutory consumer rights are preserved.
02Software licence and Apple EULA
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use jottable on devices you own or lawfully control, subject to the applicable distribution rules. Software is licensed, not sold. Rights not expressly granted remain with their owners. These terms do not restrict actions permitted by applicable law or an open-source licence.
Software obtained through the App Store is licensed under Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement (Standard EULA). That agreement governs the relevant app licence. These terms supplement the service relationship; conflicts about the app licence are resolved under the Standard EULA and mandatory law. See our EULA page.
03Local features and optional services
Core manual tasks—including creating, editing, completing, organising, searching, history, import, export and backup—run on your device and do not require AI. You may choose available Jottable AI or connect your own AI service. Hosted AI, accounts and sync apply only when offered in your version and region, explained to you and chosen by you.
Examples shown on the website are illustrative. jottable is a personal task tool; it does not promise team collaboration or to send emails, make payments, book services or perform the external actions described in your tasks.
04AI outputs and your decisions
AI can transcribe speech, polish text, interpret instructions with relevant task context, use web tools when appropriate and suggest task changes or answers. You can edit speech text before submitting. Changes are checked locally, but AI may still mishear, omit details or produce incorrect information. Check important names, dates, amounts, target tasks and results. Public sources can also become outdated.
jottable is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, investment or other advice, or a sole tool for emergencies, safety-critical work or legal deadlines. We do not guarantee that AI outputs, search results or third-party services are continuously available or completely accurate.
05AI modes, costs and third parties
With your own service selected, speech recognition, polishing and task understanding use your saved provider configuration and send relevant content directly to that endpoint. You must be entitled to use the service and credentials and understand its pricing, region, privacy practices and restrictions. Saving or changing a configuration does not imply free usage or authorise an unrequested paid connection test.
If hosted AI is available, its limits and prices are disclosed before use. A failed, interrupted or cancelled request may still incur provider charges for work already performed. Comply with applicable AI provider, network, Apple, Google and other third-party terms. Switching modes must not conceal who pays for AI requests.
06Your content and intellectual property
You retain your rights in tasks, recordings, transcripts, imported files and other content. You authorise processing only as needed for the features you request and necessary security, support and legal duties; using jottable does not transfer ownership of your content to us.
Only record, upload or import material you are entitled to process. Respect privacy, confidentiality and intellectual property rights. The app, brand and website assets belong to us or their licensors; third-party marks belong to their respective owners.
07Recordings, permissions and reminders
Voice features need microphone permission; device reminders need the relevant notification permissions. Refusing these permissions does not prevent other available manual features. Obtain any legally required permission before recording another person. Saved local recordings and their text remain until you actively delete them, rather than being automatically removed after transcription.
The device operating system delivers reminders. Focus modes, shutdown, force-stop, power management, permissions and scheduling limits can affect delivery. Check the scheduling coverage shown in the app and keep a backup arrangement for critical matters.
08Local data, backups and optional accounts
Protect your device and exported backups. Device damage, system cleanup, uninstallation or deletion can remove local data. Turning off sync does not itself delete a cloud copy. If account or sync features are offered, use an identity you are entitled to use, review migration and conflict choices, and protect your credentials.
Your provider keys do not travel with task exports or content sync. Reconfigure them yourself on a new device and keep any data you wish to retain. See the Privacy Policy for export and deletion information.
09Acceptable use and security
Do not use the service unlawfully, infringe rights, introduce malware, attack or disrupt systems, bypass access controls, impersonate others or abuse resources at scale. Do not copy, resell or redistribute protected software or assets except as permitted by law or applicable licences. We may restrict relevant online services for security, legal compliance or material violations, giving reasons and a way to contact us when practicable.
10Purchases, updates and ending use
If a download or feature is paid, its price, scope, duration and renewal terms must be disclosed before purchase. This website is not a price promise. Store purchases, subscription management and refunds also follow the applicable store rules and consumer law. You settle your own provider charges directly with that provider.
Updates may fix issues or change features. Website terms do not replace system permissions or required consent. You can stop using and uninstall the app. Ending use does not automatically erase exported files; valid accrued charges, intellectual property and applicable responsibility provisions may survive.
11Warranties, liability and consumer rights
We provide the app with reasonable professional care. Except where required by law or expressly promised, we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service or fitness for every particular purpose. Third-party AI, search services and device systems have their own conditions.
Any limitation applies only where lawful. Nothing excludes or restricts non-excludable consumer, privacy, product liability, intentional misconduct, gross negligence or other mandatory rights and remedies. Statutory guarantees and refunds prevail; the Standard EULA’s warranty and refund provisions continue to apply to relevant App Store versions.
12Law and disputes
Subject to mandatory protections and remedies in your habitual place of residence, these terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China. Contact us first about a problem. If it cannot be resolved, either party may seek relief in a court with lawful jurisdiction. These terms do not impose a waiver of statutory complaints, collective actions or available arbitration choices.
13Changes and languages
We publish updates and revise the date on this page. Material changes affecting your rights will receive any legally required notice or renewed consent. English and Chinese are provided for convenience. Any material difference is resolved subject to applicable law, the governing text of Apple’s Standard EULA and mandatory consumer protections, without reducing statutory rights because of a translation.
